REVIEW

Heavyocity continues its Mosaic series of virtual instruments with its fifth installment called MOSAIC PLUCK. They integrated a wide variety of plucked instruments that include strings, thumb pianos, synth plucks, zither, harps, and more. Mosaic Pluck is a powerful sample library that is a welcome addition to the growing Mosaic collection.

Read on…

Mosaic Pluck comes with 128 snapshot presets that are divided into 46 ARPS, 41 Playable, and 41 Rhythmic. Heavyocity used 107 sound sources, 1,984 samples, and downloads at a modest 1.9 GB. The library is also Free Kontakt player compatible.

The interface contains six pages located at the top listed as Mixer, Control, Options, Arp, Macro Seq, and Master FX. You will find the Macro Control knob in the center of the Mixer, Control, and Macro Sequencer pages. The Macro knob can control up to six Macro Sliders. The Macro Sliders control the Envelope, Eq, Filter, Drive, Gate, and Space. Below the Macro control knob are three mixer channels that can be activated or deactivated.

The options page allows you to browse all 107 sample sound sources and load them into each channel. The sounds are divided into four categories, including Synth, Organic, Reverse, and Attack Sounds.

The Arp page contains three individual arpeggiators that let you to create intricate driving sequences by drawing shapes in all three Arp interfaces.

The Macro Sequencer page allows you to control modulation via the Macro Knob and alter the modulation sequences by modifying the shapes in the pattern sequencer window.

The final section is the Master FX page, where you will find Heavyocity’s renowned Punish knob for compression and saturation. There are four effects, including Filter, Delay, Master EQ, and Reverb.

When you load Mosaic Pluck in Kontakt, you will see three snapshot categories from the drop-down menu titled Arp, Playable, and Rhythmic.

Mosaic Pluck contains a significant amount of stellar, dynamic, and rewarding presets straight out of the box. However, my favorite part is swapping out the soundsources, manipulating the arps, and creating custom snapshots. There is more than enough sound design that will keep you innovating for a long time.

This library is useful in underscoring many genres of film productions, including documentaries, crime, drama, reality television, and other types of electronic music.

I have said before, the Mosaic instruments are an exceptional value with what you get for the cost. The fifth entry to the Mosaic series should be a worthwhile addition to your composing toolkit. I really like combining other Mosaic libraries with Pluck and hearing how brilliant they sound together.

Heavyocity’s Mosaic Pluck is an intriguing, rhythmic, and captivating instrument that will have you laying down exhilarating tracks in no time. Not only did it live up to my expectations but it even surpassed them!
