There’s a lot of great Christmas movies out there, but the following films are my 25 favorites! I put this list in no particular order, except for the first film, which is my all time favorite Christmas film.

  1. CHRISTMAS VACATION

One of the Best comedies ever made and a timeless Christmas classic that has stood the test of time!

2. BLACK CHRISTMAS

A 70’s Horror film that kept me on the edge of my seat when I first saw it. Something you may not know is this film was directed by the great Bob Clark- the director of ‘A Christmas Story’. So I think it’s fair to say the late Bob Clark loved Christmas!

3. A CHRISTMAS STORY

Bob Clark’s second Christmas Film has become a family film holiday tradition. I remember the day this film was released and new it was special. I didn’t think at the time ‘A Christmas Story’ would receive 24 hour marathons, but this just proves how powerful this movie is among family viewing. I’m sure Bob Clark was proud to see this little movie admired by so many. The sad part of this story is that Bob Clark and his 22 year old son passed away April 7, 2007 by a drunk driver. Thank you Bob for years of joy, you will be missed!

A Christmas Story

4. ELF

A hilarious Christmas comedy that I didn’t care for upon my first viewing and it eventually became a film favorite. I must have not been in the mood when I first watched it, because later on I laughed my ass off!

5. KRAMPUS

An entertaining film with comedy and horror that should definitely hold your interest. A fun entertaining ride!

6. Scrooged

Bill Murray and a modern 80’s adaption of ‘A Christmas Carol’ is a true winning favorite that always makes me smile !

7. JINGLE ALL THE WAY

Forget the critics, this movie is a blast. It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and reflects on the commercialism in America.

Jingle All the Way

8. The Santa Claus — Film Trilogy

Tim Allen plays a great Santa Claus! These are fun family films that I have grown to love and of course I love Tim Allen!

9. DIE HARD

Bruce Willis and Christmas equals a hell of a great time and a lot of testosterone! No matter what people say, this is a fun Christmas flick that most men and many women love!

10. It’s a Wonderful Life

A movie that has become a staple of all Christmas films that truly pulls at the heart strings, and has always been one of my all time favorites. The great thing about this film, you should never suffer from dry eye.

11. Miracle On 34th Street

A 1947 classic that stars the late Natalie Wood and incorporates the true spirit of Christmas.

12. Four Christmases

I thought this was a very funny movie starring the hilarious Vince Vaughn. It reminded me of the times I had to go to four Christmas’s growing up.

13. Surviving Christmas

This is another funny comedy that I missed when it first came out. It’s no Christmas Vacation but it’s quite enjoyable nevertheless with a great cast.

14. White Christmas

This is an oldie but goodie! I suppose my mom had an influence why I like this movie. It’s truly a Christmas favorite with some great songs.

15. A Christmas Horror Story

This was an entertaining horror Christmas movie that I enjoyed. It might not be for everyone, but it had an interesting take on Krampus vs Santa Claus! All I have to say, Santa is quite the bad ass!

16. Christmas Evil

I saw this recently on Amazon Prime. I meant to watch this years ago and thought this film had great atmosphere. Not sure how I missed it in the 1980’s, but I can now see why it’s now a cult classic.

17. GREMLINS

What’s not to love about this 80’s classic directed by the legendary Joe Dante and presented by Steven Spielberg. I have to admit I still have a stuffed Gizmo sitting around in some box somewhere in the attic, and of course I had a huge crush on Pheobe Cates. Gremlins is a lot of fun and brings back fond memories when I saw it as a kid in the theater.

18. A Christmas Carol

I consider this to be the best of the classic Scrooge films starring Alastair Sim. This film came out in 1951 and I’m sure it might have scared young children back then. This is a movie everyone needs to watch every couple years or so!

19. Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas

Jim Carrey might be off his rocker these days, but I still enjoy this holiday film over the animated one.

20. Fred Claus

Fred helps save Christmas and rediscovers the gift of family. This is another great Vince Vaughn movie that I also really like.

21. SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT

The most controversial Christmas movie of all time and it still holds up as a fun 80’s slasher!

22. LOVE ACTUALLY

A star studded romantic comedy that is full of Christmas spirit and adult content. It is a little long, but quite enjoyable. It also has Rick ‘Andrew Lincoln’ from ‘The Walking Dead’ in it!

23. SANTA CLAUS THE MOVIE

This film came out in 1985 and this restored blu ray edition looks fantastic. It’s a real treat seeing this film with all the magical colors and sparkle it delivers. They represent the Santa Claus story very well and it’s a great family film!

24. BAD SANTA

Not for the faint of heart. An adult themed foul mouthed film starring Billy Bob Thornton is a lot of fun. I didn’t like Bad Santa 2 at all, but this one does make my list. Also, it stars the late great John Ritter and Bernie Mac. May God rest their hilarious souls.

25. HOME ALONE

John Hughes movies were a staple in the 1980’s and I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like Home Alone. A fun entertaining film that has become a family favorite.

TO WRAP IT UP-THIS THE WORST CHRISTMAS MOVIE I’VE EVER SEEN SO FAR !

FAT MAN

I love Mel Gibson, but what the hell was he thinking when he accepted this role- it’s horrible! Mel is cast as Kris Kringle (Santa Claus aka-FAT MAN) and his wife (Mrs. Kringle) is an black British woman. You couldn’t ask for a worst Mr. and Mrs. Claus. The movie is a mess and the fact that it’s called fat man is even more confusing. Mel’s not even fat, just a little chunky in the belly. Why they didn’t put him in a fat suit is beyond me! This is a Hollywood disaster and a complete bore!

I may have missed some great holiday films and if I think of more I will certainly add them to this post, but as far as the worst film Fat Man will hold the title for quite some time!
