It also has the ability to tame harsh or sibilant sounds from hi-hat, cymbals, and voice. The SM7B is highly shielded against electrical interference, and includes bass roll-off and mid-range emphasis (presence boost) controls with graphic display, and internal “air suspension” shock isolation. It ships with a standard windscreen and an A7WS detachable windscreen for close-talk applications. Need some convincing that this might be the mic for you? I have heard people say they need a Cloudlifter with this mic, but I can’t confirm that you really need it.

Electro-Voice RE320
Electro-Voice RE320 Large Diaphragm Dynamic Vocal Microphone
The reason I chose the Electro-Voice RE320 is because of the technology and the history of this brand in broadcasting. Since the Re20 is a standard for many famous radio broadcasters throughout history, it is also more expensive. The Re20 is benefits greatly with a Cloudlifter that adds another $149. The Re320 does not require a Cloudlifter in any of my tests. I own three audio interfaces that I have tested this mic on when I first got it and the gain was perfect with no need of a Cloudlifter. This was a big plus in my decision. I used it on a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Interfaces (3rd Gen), Behringer U-PHORIA UMC202HD, and a PreSonus Audiobox USB 96 2x2. Another reason I love this mic is that it delivers a great tone with no bass plosives with their built in pop filter and kick roll off switch. This unique dual-voicing switch lets you select from two response curves. I can put this mic right up against my bass drum and get a awesome recording which has been near impossible with the other dynamic mics I own. The bottom line is, you can use this mic in a broad use of applications that overall fit my needs.

This was my first USB Broadcasting mic I have used and still use for certain applications, because of the convenience of USB when I am no at my desktop computer. This is a condenser mic and has a great sound. Like I pointed out above, you will have more background noise to deal with bleeding through and you will need to use a good pop filter for plosives. However, there is no denying that a Blue Yeti sounds great.
